This lifestyle change program reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% (and 71% for people over the age of 60) and reduces risks of heart disease and stroke. ACOM lifestyle coaches, Fressana Lawin, Kure Calep and Fei Debrum, help people increase their physical activity, decrease body weight and blood sugar, and improve health outcomes through the Pacific Islander Diabetes Prevention Program. Many participants in this program have become community ambassadors volunteering with ACOM in vaccine outreach and and other big events like Stroll the Atoll.
