The Chuuk election has had an onslaught of confusion on the entire state of Chuuk, much like Donald Trump-JD Vance wreaked havoc on the entire nation dividing the population into two sides.
“There’s a civil unrest in Chuuk (now),” said Elma Shirai-Matthew. “Abuse of power. Unlawful arrest. Violation of rights. This sh#!&t show started from the election.
“The people of Chuuk are being terrorized. State and municipal police going against each other. Who will protect the people? Chuuk leaders are not calling state emergency, when they should.
“It’s a sad day for me to feel scared in my own home and island. Cars speeding up and down the road. No justice system to protect the people. Have we really come to this? Innocent people caught in between egos and prides of our leaders. When is it too much, and enough is enough?!”
The other day, Matthew also said, state police showed up at the airport, where she worked, to make an arrest. They do not have any warrant. Is this even legal, and right?
“What is Chuuk coming to?,” she also said. “People making threats against people for speaking up, and asking question on what’s going on. How is this right? To threaten someone’s life online or in-person is a crime, too, but then we can’t even file a complaint. Because who are we suppose to file with, when the police are part of the problem. Who do we turn to?”
This is not an isolated incident.
Corky Stinnett, part owner of Truck Stop Hotel posted this video of police arresting the hotel’s receptionist said this: “They are trespassing onto private property, harassing my staff to give out private information about our hotel guests. Making arrest without any warrant from the court, and violating my staff members’ human rights. Making an arrest with no actual lawful offense being made. And now State police are refusing to release my staff from their holding, although they themselves cannot give a clear reasoning as to what the actual offense is. All they can tell us is, ‘This was an order from the higher ups?’”
Stinnett also said, “What’s going on in Chuuk State? What happened to law and order? This is just sad.”
“There is also murder in Faichuik because of this election,” said Excuse Sananap, another poster.

Gov. Narruhn did not respond when Chikin Melele reached out to him on Messenger.
Meanwhile, a outgoing member of Chuuk State Legislature, Timothy Ruda, who some found heroic, said this:
“Your 17th Chuuk State Legislature stands its grounds on the integrity of our Chuuk State Constitution, and we will bring justice. Sorry for suggesting a little too late. But I will try my best.
“I am not interested in addressing the problems anymore, I am now suggesting a solution to all of this, the best way that I can. This is what I will do during my last days of service as a Law Maker for Chuuk State Legislature. I will look (for a way for) peace for Chuuk.”
Ruda also said he will introduce a bill in his last hour in the Legislature, a bill for all members to reconcile, ächäsefän… to each other and to Chuuk!
