On February 27, 2026, leaders and people from the FSM, RMI and Palau gathered at the Utah State Capital for COFA Day. Utah State Senator Karen Kwan recognized the contributions of COFA states’ community members, including those from Mana Academy, ambassadors from each Freely Associated State, FSM and RMI Consul Generals. During the cultural program in the afternoon, all three ambassadors addressed the community and shared remarks along with former Utah House Representative Ben McAdams who helped Marshallese, Micronesians and Palauans again access Medicaid in Utah. Students from Mana Academy planned a wonderful program of songs and dances and two of the students spoke about the significance of COFA Day and their culture. Thank you to Utah Marshallese community Cassidy Matthew for reporting from COFA on the Hill. Also much thanks to FSM and RMI Consul Generals for helping to organize transportation and the day’s events.
