This year Arkansas Coalition of Marshallese (ACOM) hosted their annual Stroll the Atolls festival, a two-day event of Marshallese community celebrations and programs, starting with an afternoon of free, family-friendly activities at Crystal Bridges (https://crystalbridges.org/calendar/stroll-the-atolls-bridging-waves-expo/) and an open dialogue with the youth organized by Tōlemour. The afternoon events include traditional crafts, foods and storytelling—all centered around the important, life-sustaining role of the coconut in Marshallese culture and history. The outdoor events offer guests the opportunity to practice coconut carving, creating coconut oil, crafts, and more. Marshallese elders will share stories and histories centered around coconuts each hour on the hour. The following day vendors set up in Shiloh Square selling handicrafts, candles, Marshallese food, and advertising community services (https://www.facebook.com/strolltheatolls/). The day’s program included dances, storytelling, and ended with fire dancers and a fashion show.
