Also one of the many reasons I learned to play music, is just to keep on doing what he started, and to keep it alive and going for this day and age.

Hi, hello and greetings everybody. My name is Benny Enoch a.k.a. Juon Cent. I am the son of Robert Enoch, founding band member and owner of Laura Skate im Ļā. While he was growing up, music knew him before he knew music. I remember one evening, the sky was quite clear, you could look and see the stars so clearly, and he begin to sing, ” The stars in skies are looking down, and the waves are breaking into foaming ripples and swells.”

One cent rapping: Suka, suka, suka suka suka look at the women, I don’t care what you say. Likin lobat eḷaññe kōjaje ia in.

Im ekkar ñan Benny bwe ḷōḷḷap eo ej juon eo me elukuun jeḷā ekkōn al.

According to Benny, his dad was very gifted in creating and writing new songs.

Benny: Unin aō ba menin ke kōnke jet ka iien ej make iaan.  Emaroñ make iaan im lak itok, ekwe juon en an eṃōj an kine.

The reason why I said this is because most often his dad would be by himself and whenever he would showed up, he would be bringing a new song.

Luncheon meat: Ij kememej kar ilo kar 90 ko / I remember it was in the 90’s

Lake Dube: 90 some kani ako 80 some, tōre kani me ej elukuun kar popular / 90’s or 80’s…was really popular during those years.

Jeff Thomas: Laura Skate im Ļā ej juon iaan band ko ebwe aer kar bunbun ilo tōre ko. /Laura Skate im Ļā was one of the very popular band during those times.

I used to listen to the Skate im Ļā band, those songs by Robert Enoch, his songs were quite upbeat and very exciting, but he also had some very sad songs during those years as well.

Lake Dube: Juon iaan ri kōjañjañ ro me eaar lukkun eṃṃan al ko an im bunbun, leo rej ba Robert Enoch. /He was one of those singers that had very good songs and was very famous, the one known as Robert Enoch.

Luncheon meat:  Ṃōttan lōmaro ro raar bōklōñ tak etan Majōl ilo menin kōjañjañ. / He was one of those that made the Marshall Islands known through his music and songs.

Loling Morris:  What’s up everbody? It’s your boy Loling all the way from the island of Rubkwiwe all the way from Jaliut.  I just wannna give a big shout out to my boy, one of the legends.  Growing up listening to his songs, you know, affected me, affected me a lot in so many ways and made me become who I am today.  Robert Enoch, a big shout out to you, sir. Salute.

Benny:  Im jebūroṃōj bwe eṃōj an ṃootḷọk lo kar 2021 ak jej lo bwe ej mour wōt ilo al kein ad. / We are very sad that he passed away in 2021, but we recognize that he’s still living among us through his songs.
